BOULDER – Jasper is a moon bear. I try to practice what he teaches. Jethro was my long-time companion dog, and I also try to incorporate his lessons about compassion and love into my life. Jasper, Jethro, and many other amazing animal beings teach us numerous lessons about forgiveness, generosity, dignity, peace, trust, and love. We must listen to them carefully and incorporate them into our lives.

LONGMONT – Officials with the St. Vrain Valley School District will hold a community forum concerning Colorado’s budget crisis and its impact on the district at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2, at Altona Middle School, 4600 Clover Basin Dr., Longmont.

LYONS – Recently Lyons Economic Gardening Group, LEGG, a branch of the Lyons Area Chamber of Commerce, sponsored a seminar on website basics. Over 30 people attended. The presenters, Jeff Gagliardi and Bill VanLeeuwen, covered the three phases of website development. HYGIENE – Zweck is a name well known around rural Boulder County, associated with farming, fresh garden vegetables and a wide variety of fruits.

Gayle Zweck is granddaughter of the Cushman family, St. Vrain Valley pioneers, and wife of Russell Zweck.

LONGMONT – This week Greenwood opened its doors like any other day with an unexpected guest: a two-week old red fox kit. It’s a bit early in the season for baby foxes to be born, but it is with delight that we take this little girl under our wing (pun intended) with intentions of raising her into an adult to be released back into the wild.

Valentine is a sweet little girl who would love to go to a nice quiet home where she can lounge around and take nice log naps. She is declawed in the front so she needs to be a indoor kitty only. Won’t you make this sweetheart your very own?

The High Street Concert Series presents Sarah Siskind and Travis Book and Slipstream on Saturday, March 13th at Rogers Hall. Sarah Siskind is seen as one of today’s most eclectic songwriters with songs covered by artists such as Alison Krauss, whose rendition of “Simple Love” was nominated for Grammy in 2008.

LYONS – Lyons is a closely knit small town but its residents face many of the same problems plaguing today’s world economy. The Lyons Community Foundation’s advisory board recognized that there was a great need in our community for a way to lend a helping hand to individuals and families with an urgent need. That’s where the Lyons Community Foundation’s Basic Needs and Emergency Fund, BN&EF, comes in.
