LONGMONT – The Longmont Public Library has long believed that everyone should have access to its services. This includes the physically handicapped, seniors, non-English speaking populations. Now the library has added another unique option to its service tool-belt in the form of both Sensory Storytime and special access browsing for special needs kids and their families in the Children and Teens Services area.

LYONS – After her years of work for history preservation in her hometown of Lyons, LaVern Johnson has been singled out for distinction by Historic Boulder, which named her as the Preservationist of the Year on Sunday, March 14 at its annual meeting and banquet at the Millennium Harvest House in Boulder.

Once in a Blue Moon, a Lyons-area art exhibit to celebrate the blue moon on December 31, 2009 will be held at the Lyons Town Hall. An artists’ reception will be held from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on January 23 at the town hall. The show will run for six weeks. The Lyons Arts and Humanities Council (LAHC) is inviting artists to submit artwork for this collaborative show.

Happy New Year. This is a second article in a series introducing the members of the Lyons Economic Gardening Group, LEGG. As a committee of the Lyons Area Chamber of Commerce, LEGG offers information and resources to local businesses. The intent of economic gardening, which is a global movement, is to help local businesses grow and meet their objectives. These may include increasing their quantity of customers, clients and patrons as well as hiring local people to meet increased demands for services and products.
