PINEWOOD SPRINGS – The Aging Well in Lyons: Community, Connections & Resources (AWIL) Conference held on May 14 at Lyons Elementary School drew enthusiastic participants interested in the idea of aging in their own homes.

LYONS – The fabulous Quarry Gals sang for the seniors at the Walter Self Housing Center in the community house. The performers snapped their fingers, moved and swayed with the music, and shared big smiles with the packed room of seniors. The audience members returned the broad smiles, and said that it was probably the best Friday musical program of the year.

LYONS – Now local seniors can travel without leaving their chairs. Golden Gang seniors have discovered art in Russia, polar bears in northern Canada, and colorful foods and clothing in India, thanks to volunteer speaker Marie McCreery, and cranes in the Midwest, and soon glaciers in Antarctica through Rolf and Emily.

LYONS – Lyons seniors have recently been involved in a number of activities that took them away from their normal activities in May. They gathered up a large box of pet food and essentials to feed and comfort the wild animals at Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.

LYONS – Springtime in the Rockies puts a spring in the step of Lyons seniors. Many seniors are once again going on strolls around town. The newly renovated Main Street creates new conversations about the many changes seniors have seen over the years.
