Downtown parking regs cause controversy
LYONS – Early in the summer the Lyons Town Board decided to enforce the two-hour time limit on parking on two blocks of Main Street from Third Avenue to Fifth Avenue.
Two enforcement officers were hired to work on Saturday and Sunday. The town chose to enforce the regulations, which have been in place for years, based on complaints from business owners mainly in the 400 block of Main who said that often parking spaces in front of their businesses were taken up by people who came to town and parked all day while taking off to hike or bicycle on trails leaving their vehicles in front of businesses and taking spaces away from legitimate downtown shoppers.
