LYONS – Recently Lyons Economic Gardening Group, LEGG, a branch of the Lyons Area Chamber of Commerce, sponsored a seminar on website basics. Over 30 people attended. The presenters, Jeff Gagliardi and Bill VanLeeuwen, covered the three phases of website development. Happy New Year. This is a second article in a series introducing the members of the Lyons Economic Gardening Group, LEGG. As a committee of the Lyons Area Chamber of Commerce, LEGG offers information and resources to local businesses. The intent of economic gardening, which is a global movement, is to help local businesses grow and meet their objectives. These may include increasing their quantity of customers, clients and patrons as well as hiring local people to meet increased demands for services and products.

The Lyons Area Chamber of Commerce formed a committee called the Lyons Economic Gardening Group, LEGG, in March of 2008. The LEGG group members are: Christy Crosser, Chuck Keim, Rick Whitcomb, Bill VanLeeuwen and myself John O’Brien, chairman. LEGG is an economic development committee whose methodology is “economic gardening,” which is a way to grow and develop local economies by identifying and working with existing businesses to help them meet their objectives.
