Prescribed burn at Hall Ranch between Sept. 21 and Oct. 31

BOULDER COUNTY – Boulder County Parks and Open Space will conduct a prescribed burn on Hall Ranch Open Space sometime between September 21 and October 31. The proposed burn area is approximately 66 acres in size and is located near the Nelson loop trail, just west of the prairie dog area.

LONGMONT – The non-profit Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center will be hosting a fun-filled event on Friday, September 10 to benefit the nearly 2,200 animals it treats each year. Wild Night for Wildlife will feature an open bar, buffet dinner, and a silent and a live auction.

LYONS – The Lyons Town Board of Trustees received its first financial report from finance director Jody McClurkin at the early June town board meeting. McClurkin said that the town budget was in good shape except for the Parks and Recreation fund which is operating in a deficit and has been for several years. She told the board that sales tax revenues are still down for the year compared to last year.

LYONS – Lyons Valley Bank and Trust will hold a free community document shred event from 9 a.m. to noon on June 5. Everyone is welcome to bring three copy boxes or one large bag full of confidential materials. These materials can include bank statements older than three months, credit card statements older than three months, medical records older than seven years, utility bills older than three months, tax returns older than seven years, pay check stubs older than end-of-the-year summary, cancelled checks, credit card offers, ATM receipts, investment statements and many other things. Valley Bank is located at the corner of Second Avenue and East Main Street.

LYONS – Janice Saeger, formerly Lyons finance director, recently accepted a position as the financial analyst for the recreation department at the City of Fort Collins. She started her new position on April 5.

Lyons Recorder is sold

LYONS – Joseph Lekarczyk and Lora Gilson, under the newly formed company Lojo LLC, purchased the Lyons Recorder from Gary and Shar Wamsley on March 6. The Wamsleys are from Berthoud and previously owned the Berthoud Recorder which they shut down over a month ago due to low ad sale revenues.
