DENVER – The Denver Art Museum, DAM, recently opened the highly anticipated summer exhibition, Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs. It runs through Jan. 9, 2011. Featuring more than 100 treasures from the tomb of King Tut and additional ancient sites, the exhibition will make its debut and sole Rocky Mountain appearance at the DAM.

LYONS – When Jake Pinello looked at the west wall of the St. Vrain Market, where he planned to paint a mural, he had no idea what he would paint. But after discussions with St. Vrain Market owners Neil and Connie Sullivan, the picture began to take shape.

For the month of July and August, the gallery at the Stone Cup Café will exhibit Flowers in the Wild, paintings by celebrated local artist Sally White King. Live music will feature the Prairie Scholars, singer-songwriters Andy and Jessica Eppler, on July 16; the Indie-Gypsy Chamber Folk band Taarka on July 23; bluegrass band the Fairwell Drifters, who are also appearing at the Rocky Grass, on July 24; Todd Patrick Livingston and Trucker’s Daughter, bluegrass and honky-tonk on July 25; and Scorpion Machine Gun, rooks, rock, and Americana music on August 6. LYONS – The fabulous Quarry Gals sang for the seniors at the Walter Self Housing Center in the community house. The performers snapped their fingers, moved and swayed with the music, and shared big smiles with the packed room of seniors. The audience members returned the broad smiles, and said that it was probably the best Friday musical program of the year.

LYONS – Oskar Blues Brewery has a can-do attitude towards its newest event, to be held in Lyons’ Sandstone Park, June 26 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

In June the Stone Cup Café hosts Alison Bozeman and her artwork on eco-crafted paper goods. Bozeman is owner of Bird Dog press, a collaborative design studio.
