Future library designs
LYONS – An open house to help plan the Lyons library will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday July 14 at the Lyons Town Hall, to look at design ideas currently in play for a new library in Lyons. Residents may make comments and suggestions, and, if you choose, get more involved in the process. This meeting is a repeat of the June public meeting. The Colorado Department of Local Affairs Design Team will be in attendance, and will make comments and answer questions.
Parks and Rec fund down
LYONS – Lyons Town Administrator Victoria Simonsen told the town board in July that the Lyons Outdoor Games and Good Old Days lost money in June. “We are down in the Parks and Rec. Fund $3,600 year to date,” she said. But she added that there were more revenues in June than expenses.
Golf carts on the increase
LYONS – It’s not exactly a traffic jam, but the town is seeing more and more golf carts (electric carts) buzzing around town according to Sgt. Kevin Parker of the Boulder County Sheriff’s Dept. in Lyons. Parker said that to drive a cart drivers must be sober and have a valid driver’s license. He says you cannot drive on sidewalks or pedestrian walkways. He said that technically the electric vehicles cannot drive on state or U.S. highways, and Main Street is a state highway. Carts are allowed to cross the highway but not to ride on the highway.
