Cemex recalls 44 workers
LYONS – In November Cemex laid off 45 workers because of sluggish concrete sales. Recently the plant drew down most of its reserve, which is stored as clinker before being made into concrete. “We recalled all 45 workers,” said Steve Goodrich, plant manager. “All the workers but one returned and that person found other work.” Goodrich also said that Cemex has fired up its kiln and will replenish its reserve of clinker and make more cement.
