LYONS – The Lyons/9Health Fair is just around the corner. The 9Health Fair will be held on April 18 at the Lyons Middle/Senior High School. A little preparation will be helpful in navigating through your selected screenings efficiently, and ensure receiving accurate test results. Here are a few helpful tips for the day of the fair.Prepare a list of those screenings you would like to participate in. Some screenings are limited, such as pap smears, so be sure to arrive early. The following screenings will be offered at the Lyons/9Health Fair:
Blood chemistry, PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) screening for men only blood draw; a height/weight/body mass index (BMI); vision, pulse and blood pressure; colon cancer education; talk with a health professional; first aid; ask a pharmacist; blood count screening blood draw; body fat skin fold screening; body in balance; breast screening; eye health; finger stick glucose screening; foot screening; metabolic syndrome screening; nutrition; oral health; osteoporosis; pap smear; pulse oximetry; and skin screening.
Cost of screenings:
Blood draw, cost: $30; colon cancer screening kit, cost: $20; PSA, men only blood draw, cost: $25; blood count screening, blood draw cost: $15. You may pay by cash, credit or check.
Be sure to prepare any medical questions you would like to discuss with the medical staff. The on-site medical personnel are there to assist you and answer your questions.
Please do not eat at least 12 hours before having blood drawn. Diabetics should not fast. Drink plenty of water before having blood drawn. Continue taking prescribed medications. You must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
The Lyons/9Health Fair is being held Saturday, April 18 from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Lyons Middle/Senior High School, 100 S. Second Ave. in Lyons. All participants will be offered free and/or low-cost screenings to those 18 and older.
