Letter to editor from Mayor Van Domelen
Dear Editor:
I am honored to have been chosen as Lyons’ next mayor. I am very grateful to the people that helped in my campaign and to all of the citizens of Lyons that took time out of their day to share their concerns and ideas. I look forward to working with the Lyons Board of Trustees to ensure that town is responsive to the needs and concerns of our citizens and businesses. I particularly want to recognize Trustee Schooler’s tireless efforts on behalf of Lyons and am excited about rolling up our sleeves together. I will work hard to live up to the trust that the voters have given me.
I know that there are many of you who are willing to engage constructively in community affairs. One of the first tasks as mayor will be to appoint a replacement on the Planning and Community Development Commissions. Please send expressions of interest to me at Julie.van.domelen@gmail.com.
I also want to encourage everyone in the greater Lyons community to participate in the Comprehensive Plan workshops to help define future directions for Lyons. Your voice is critical to the process.
Sincerely,
Julie Van Domelen
P.S. Thanks to the Redstone Review for its thorough coverage of the candidates. One small correction in my bio – although I grew up in Aspen and consider it my hometown, I was born in Grand Rapids, Mich.
